    1. Thank you… Yes, with a hellovalot of help & support from my friends, this day HAS finally (after 7yrs) arrived. What a thrill. :-)

  1. Excellent expedition rig. Lot’s of work done. I am aware of the amount of effort that goes into it, as I am currently converting my LA911B into a similar R.V. version, albeit to be used on the fringes of Europe. I particularely like the indicator protectors on the mudguard! Are they specially made? Any drawing to share?
    Have fun!

    1. Well you've chosen one very tough vehicle for your tour. When you say the fringes of Europe, which countries are you going to visit, what kind of road conditions & infrastructure do you anticipate ? The 911 will handle the toughest of conditions but VERY slowly, so whatever you do give yourself PLENTY of time.
You mentioned the indicator protection grilles… Nyati was built for the military & came with all sorts of additional equipment such as convoy (black out) lights, & heavy vehicle retrieval fittings front & back. I kept the machine gun turret above the passenger seat for access to the roof, & the indicator grilles which will be invaluable when pushing through bush.
If I had to do this rebuild again, I would be MUCH MORE aware of weight saving. The 911's gross weight is rated at 9500kg. I thought Nyati would be way under that… Think again… Fully fueled, watered & victualled Nyati's actually overweight !!
With regard to drawings, I drew a basic layout of what I anticipated Nyati would look like right at the beginning. The "house" plan has remained the same but I rethought the weight distribution & brought whatever heavy items I could, such as water & batteries, down lower (between the chassis members) to improve the centre of gravity. I'll try to copy that drawing & post it on this blog.
I wish you good luck with your project… Please send pictures when you can.
